In Projeto Fio we have developed a methodology in which women, some of whom have never even had contact with handicrafts, are facilitated to become professional embroiderers. We work in partnership with NGOs - today with Baalaka Social in the Tijuquinha community and with Rede das Mulheres in the Maré favela.
We run meetings in which we exchange techniques and new stitches, interests and memories. Through this process, a bond is established between these women, who become part of a group that shares knowledge and experiences through the manufacturing of embroidery designs.
Nowadays, more than 40 women have experienced the Fio Project encounters. It is based on these exchanges that we develop the brand's collections - the themes and designs are born from the circles of conversation and the memories that arise on these encounters.
